Osteopathic treatment is generally gentle and should not cause pain. Some techniques may feel slightly uncomfortable, especially if the area being treated is sensitive or inflamed, but this is typically short-lived. Your osteopath will work within your comfort level and adapt the treatment as needed.
-
Loose-fitting clothing is ideal. Depending on your presenting complaint, you may need to remove some clothing for assessment or treatment. For your comfort, a gown can be provided if necessary.
-
No referral is needed to see an osteopath. However, you may be eligible for a Chronic Disease Management (CMD) or Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan from your GP. These plans allow Medicare to rebate a portion of the consultation fee for up to five allied health treatments per calendar year.

Yes, if your policy includes extras. The rebate amount will depend on your insurer and level of cover. We have a HICAPS machine onsite, so bring your private health card to claim your rebate on the day of your appointment!
