INJURY RECOVERY

Understanding Healing Times, Non-Linear Progress and Key Factors for Faster Recovery

HEALING TIMES

This is a great graphic that shows the average healing times for different musculoskeletal tissues. Often tissue repair takes longer than we expect so it is important to be patient!

Healing Times

RECOVERY IS NOT ALWAYS LINEAR

In most cases, recovering from an injury is not going to be linear, there will often be ups and downs. This can be disheartening but trust the process and remain positive!

Expectation v Reality

DON’T IGNORE THESE KEY FACTORS

1. Sleep

Getting 7-8 hours of sleep is crucial to allow the body to adequately repair and recover.

2. Nutrition

Fuelling the body properly is important to support tissue repair. This is includes hydration.

3. Exercise

Often we are worried that exercise will make the injury worse, however, targeted exercises help restore strength and mobility as well as lessen the risk of re-injury.
